Ira C. Charisiadou is a Supreme Court attorney and heads the employment and labour law department at Elias Paraskevas1933, a leading Greek law firm, established in 1933. The firm has top tier scores in Banking (IFLR, 2009) and in Privatisation and Projects in Greece (The European Legal 500, 2003, 2006 and 2007) and is rated one of the top law firms in Greece by both The European Legal 500 and Chambers Global – The World’s Leading Lawyers. The firm's clients include more than two hundred large corporations, financial institutions, governments, international organisations, state-owned concerns, private foundations and high net-worth individuals.
Ira was admitted as an attorney in 1993 and is a member of the Athens Bar Association. She is also a licensed attorney in the State of New York and member of the New York and American Bar Associations.
Ira joined Paraskevas in 2001 and mainly practices in the areas of employment and labour law, employee benefits, litigation and contracts. Her experience includes advising and representing leading companies on employment matters related to M&A and privatization transactions, business downsizing and restructuring, data protection and complex employment litigation issues. She has worked with corporate and individual clients from a wide range of industry sectors to solve local and cross-border issues and has advised on service agreements, terms and conditions of employment and employee handbooks, consultancy contracts, the employment and pension implications of business reorganisation, mergers and acquisitions, the employment implications of business transfers (TUPE issues), collective redundancies, and non-competition and confidentiality covenants.
Ira holds a law degree (1990) and an LL.M. degree in Civil Law, Civil Procedure, and Labour Law (1995, First Class Honours) from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She also received an LL.M degree from Harvard Law School majoring in Labour and Employment Law and Contracts (1998), and holds an M.Sc. in Management majoring in Human Resources Management from the University of Sheffield (2000). She has authored the chapter on Greece in “Employment Law in Europe, 2nd edition”, edited by Eversheds and published by Tottel Publishing (2008).
