Ms. Kalra completed her LLB from the Campus Law Centre, Delhi University, in 1990 and was admitted to the Bar Council of India the same year. She joined Anand and Anand in 1990, became a Partner in the firm in 2001 and was designated Senior Partner in 2007. She has worked with and managed large teams and complex portfolios. She has also worked extensively with international teams in multi-jurisdictional disputes. Her in-depth experience of intellectual property comes from dealing with high volumes of litigation in the Courts in a broad range of IP issues and travelling the journey of shifting contours of the IP landscape in India. She now specialises in providing advice and strategy to clients on handling IP challenges and disputes with an astute perspective of the peculiarities and diversity in Indian markets and the legal terrain, be it conventional IP subjects or more non traditional subjects like violation of moral rights of artists, breach of contracts, misuse of confidential information and trade secrets, protection of trans border reputation of well known trademarks, trade dress and non conventional trademarks, product disparagement, misleading advertising, border measures, etc. She ensures that services to clients are based on an understanding of business objectives and expectations, adherence to budgets and focus on solutions that achieve most optimal results for preservation, strengthening and enforcement of the client's rights.
Ms. Kalra is the co-author of the Country Chapter on IP Litigation in “International Intellectual Property Litigation” (Sweet & Maxwell). She is a member of INTA, AIPPI and APAA.
