Heinz is a Cook Islander and Principal of the Cook Islands law firm Little & Matysik P.C. Before returning to the Cook Islands to live in 2009, Heinz worked as a lawyer in New Zealand and for a leading international US law firm, Shearman & Sterling, in London, Frankfurt and Munich. He has extensive experience in banking and finance, commercial and corporate law, and conveyancing.
Heinz is a Chambers and Partners Global ranked lawyer for the Pacific Islands. He is also the Chairman of the Cook Islands National Superannuation Board and is a member of the Cook Islands Public Expenditure Review Committee (PERC). Heinz has previously sat on the Board of the Cook Islands Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC).
Heinz has a Bachelor of Laws and a Master of Laws (First Class Honours) degrees from the University of Auckland and is a full member of The Society of Trust and Estates Practitioners (STEP).
