How Many Types of Immigration Visas to Australia?

posted 4 years ago

Australia is always among the top English-speaking immigration destination countries besides Canada, UK and US for Hongkongers due to its mild climate, less time difference and flight time as well as good quality of life and children education. A few of the Australian capital cities including Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide have been ranked among the Top 10 Most Liveable Cities in the World 2020 Report

There are quite a few immigration visas to Australia including skilled, business, investor and family options under which the main applicant and his / her direct and dependent family members including the spouse and children may immigrate to Australia under the permanent or temporary (provisional) visas. Depending upon which visa categories and subclasses, the main applicant, spouse and children may work, live and study anywhere or in nominated state, as well as enjoy social and medical benefits, free / reduced tuition fees (conditions may apply).

Australia Investor and Business Migration

Since his first professional registration as an Australian immigration agent in 2007, John Hu  (MARN 0746141) of John Hu Migration Consulting has been processing many successful Investor Visas including Subclass 188C Significant Investor (Provisional) Visa, Subclass 188B Investor (Provisional) Visa, Business Visas including Subclass 188B Business Innovation (Provisional) Visa and Subclass 132 Business Talent (Permanent) visa, as well as Subclass 888 Business Innovation and Investment (Permanent) visa.

All the above Investor and Business Visa categories are under state nomination in which different Australia states have their own state requirements in addition to the federal visa requirements.

Australia Investor Visa

Subclass 188C Significant Investor (Provisional) Visa in which the main applicant invests AUD5.0m in designated investment including balanced investment fund (60%), small cap funds (30%) and venture capital funds (10%) respectively. To apply for permanent residence, the main applicant is required to live in Australia only a total of 160 days in a 4 years period.

Subclass 188B Investor (Provisional) Visa in which the main applicant invests AUD1.5m in state government bonds. To apply for permanent residence, the main applicant is required to live in Australia for a total of 2 years in a 4 years period.

Australia Business Visa

Subclass 132A Business Talent (Permanent) Visa Significant Business History stream in which the main applicant invests no less than AUD1.5m in his active and eligible business in the nominated state. This is a popular direct permanent residence (PR) visa programme in which the main applicant and all his dependent family members get PR visa status right at the beginning without switching from provisional / temporary status to PR after meeting all visa requirements.

Subclass 188A Business Innovation (Provisional) Visa in which the main applicant invests no less than AUD200,000 into his new business venture or buy an existing Australian business (different states have different state requirements).

Subclass 888 Business Innovation and Investment (Permanent) visa in which the main applicant may switch from provisional / temporary visa status to permanent after meeting all visa requirements.

Australian Citizen

Under the current Australia citizenship residence requirements, the permanent residents must have been living in Australia on a valid Australian visa for 4 years immediately before applying which must include the last 12 months as a permanent resident, and not have been absent from Australia for more than one year in the past 4 years, including no more than 90 days in the year before applying.
