The Work Life Balance and Miscellaneous Provisions Act 2023 (the “Act”) was signed into law by the President on 4th April 2023. It transposes the EU Directive on work-life balance for parents and carers and provides for the introduction of new rights for employees which are designed to support a better balance between family life, work life, and caring responsibilities.
The key changes addressed by the Act are outlined below under the following headings:
- The right to request remote working;
- The right to request flexible working for caring purposes;
- Domestic Violence Leave;
- Leave for Medical Care Purposes;
- Extension of breastfeeding facilitation period.
